ICTFC Backs Domestic Violence Initiative

Caley Jags boss Terry Butcher has given his backing to an innovative new police-led initiative aimed at raising awareness around issues of domestic violence.

Leaflets will be distributed at Caley Thistle's home game against Aberdeen on Christmas Eve to everyone entering the ground and these leaflets will include information relevant to the campaign.

Terry Butcher teamed up with Northern Constabulary Inspector David Ogilvie and Inverness Women's Aid manager Catherine Russell at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium to formally launch an Inverness phase of the Force's campaign to tackle domestic abuse.

Butcher told the official ICTFC website: "With Christmas just days away, the issue of domestic abuse and in particular violence against women traditionally comes to the fore, with a number of people being affected.

"This serious issue needs all our support and we at Caley Thistle are 100% behind the White Ribbon Scotland campaign which encourages men to take a stand to end violence against women by taking a pledge at the campaign website.

"We also support the excellent work being done by Cathy and her team at Inverness Women's Aid in this regard, ably assisted by Northern Constabulary which goes a long way to help highlight the problem.

"I would encourage all men who detest violence against women to visit the website at whiteribboncampaign.co.uk and show their support to help end this type of crime"

Women can contact the Inverness office 24 hours a day, 7 days and this will continue right throughout the festive period. Whether women just want to talk, meet face to face or are seeking a safe place to stay, just pick up the phone and call 01463 220719.
