Butcher Awaits SFA Punishment

A shocking first half red card shown to midfielder Greg Tansey for a nothing challenge on Celtic cheat Georgios Samaras was described by Butcher as "deadly assault by fingernail".

Butch also bravely criticised match official Stevie O’Reilly before stating the new fast track disciplinary procedure introduced by the SFA at the start of the season was, in his view, "a kangaroo court".

The SFA’s new compliance officer Vincent Lunny is understood to be taking a close look at Butcher’s comments, but the man himself is already of the belief that he will face a punishment for what he said following the 2-0 loss against Celtic.

"I made my comments because they are what I believe, but I expect it will lead to me being up in the dock," Butcher told the Inverness Courier, who tried to speak to O’Reilly after the game about the incident, but his request was refused by the referee.

Tel has confirmed that an appeal had been lodged by Caley Thistle on behalf of Tansey, who was dismissed for violent conduct.
