Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager Terry Butcher acknowledges he faces an urgent task to begin restoring his squad for next season. The Highlanders are within a whisker of regaining Scottish Premier League status after beating Dunfermline to all but seal the First Division title.

But only three of the current squad are under contract beyond the summer.

"We can start to look at plans a little bit more now, but we're in limbo at the moment," Butcher told BBC Scotland.

Adam Rooney, who is one of the few players contracted for next season, netted his 25th goal of the season in the 2-0 win over the Pars.

That took Inverness nine points clear of Dundee, who have three games to play and an inferior goal difference.

"Until it's done and dusted, we've got to try and keep a lid on it," added Butcher.

"But contracts are really the last thing on my mind at the moment."
