Caley Jags gaffer Terry Butcher said: "To have a home draw in the Scottish Cup is a real bonus and to be facing SPL opposition is exciting as we know a lot more about Dunfermline than teams in the lower leagues.

"Both sides will treat the game as a normal SPL encounter but winning the tie is a chance to make progress in the cup and bring additional finance to the club.”

"In the past, matches between both clubs have produced plenty of action and lots of goals and this cup tie will be no exception, I’m sure. It's a New Year clash we will all be eagerly anticipating."

Caley Thistle, who have reached the semi finals in their brief history, have players like Ryan Esson, Ross Tokely, Nick Ross, Johnny Hayes and Richie Foran who have played in the Scottish Cup before but there will be many others making their debuts for the club in the national competition.
