Caley Jags 0-1 Celtic

It's back to the drawing board for Terry Butcher after Celtic hammered the Caley Jags 1-0 in the live Spl curtain raiser.

A solo goal by Paddy McCourt gave Celtic all three points and in reality it could have been much more with Shaun Maloney hitting the post from 14 yards and the Glasgow Irish dominating for large spells.

Eric Odhiambo was guilty of wasting a free header in 18 minutes and Adam Rooney has a chance but the Caley Jags fans know that their team will need to improve greatly if they are to avoid relegation this season.

Even with Charlie Mulgrew playing in Celtic's back four, ICT created next to nothing and put Celtic under little pressure.

The only amusing part of the game was when midget Maloney injured McCourt when celebrating their goal.

One positive to take was Ryan Esson's performance as he continues to show glimpses of why he was near the Scotland squad when he played for Aberdeen. Celtic had 11 attempts on target and only scored once which tells its own story.

But Butch has his work cut out lifting the team for a difficult away trip to Dundee Utd next Sunday.
