ICT break their duck!

Two goals in the opening nine minutes gave Inverness their first win at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium since 16 April.

On what was to be a successful Guy Fawkes night ICT came out the blocks like a rocket. In 4 minutes some impressive interplay from Barry Wilson and David Proctor resulted in the first goal. Wilson started the move by clipping a ball into the feet of Proctor on the edge of the box, who then cushioned a delightful lay-off towards Black and from fully 25 yards his powerful strike screamed into the top right-hand corner of the net, leaving keeper Allan McGregor stranded. 1 - 0 ICT

Five minutes later Barry Wilson was again involved, after picking the ball up and driving down the wing he cut inside leaving the defender stranded. From this he curled a shot in and somehow McGregor spilled the ball and Proctor was there to slam it home. 2 - 0 ICT

This was the start that the home fans had been praying for all season and it showed as the crowd responded by going wild. ICT kept up the pressure with some good passing splitting the dunfermline side apart. As the half wore on Dunfermline seemed to find there feet a little stringing a few passes together and also breaking up most of the ICT attacks.
Four minutes before the break though a harmless enough looking foul was given against the Pars, Barry Wilson stepped up and took it and very nearly caught McGregor sleeping as his shot fizzed past his unguarded near post.
Half Time 2 - 0

Dunfermline started the second half the more lively of the two but still really failed to trouble Mark Brown in the Inverness goal. In the 68th minute, Inverness nearly scored a third when Wilson's corner was headed towards goal by Ross Tokely, however the defenders effort struck the face of McGregor's crossbar and was cleared to safety.

Just after this ICT made a double substitution bringing off the boy Brewster who had taken a knock late in the first half, and Craig Dargo. They brought on Dennis Wyness and the youngster Rory McAllister.

At first this seemed to have a negative effect on the team as Dunfermline started playing as if they wanted something from the match, which seemed to pay off! In the 73 minute Noel Hunt pulled the ball back to Lee Makel and from 25 yards he stroked the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. 2 - 1

After this both Wyness and Grant Munro came close on seperate occasions with shots that were well saved from McGregor. Even an under performing Russell Duncan tried to get on the score sheet however his effort was chalked off for being offside.

However the last word has to be for the substitute Rory McAllister for a piece of pure magic, a long ball was played out to the right wing and McAllister was able to collect before the advancing Dunfermline defence. He looked as though he had nowhere to go with two defenders hemming him into the corner, with some impressive footwork and brilliant strength he spun away from them like a Catherine Wheel and fizzed a wonderful shot towards goal. Unfortunately McGregor was equal to it and tipped it over the crossbar.
Full Time 2 - 1
